...EXTRAordinary people...

Hello Extraordinary people...

I'm excited to finally release this blog to you all after all that anticipation. I made this blog because I love fashion, I love clothes and I love life. Fashion is apart of my life and I know it is apart of many people's lives. I know that most people feel like they can't be fashionista's because they cant afford many of the "fashionable" clothing that is out there but, this blog is here to show you that, that is far from true. What this blog is here to do is show U that U can feel like a star on a daily basis, you don't need Gucci, D&G LV and all the rest of the brands to feel good. You can wear clothes that are not as expensive and everyday clothes and make EXTRA ordinary clothes feel Extraordinary.

Primark spring/ summer 2011 preview

PRIMARK SPRING/ SUMMER 2011 COLLECTION

Primark has stepped up its game since it was first recognised. The store has been selling clothes since the late 60's where it was first opened in Dublin. Since then, the company has grown, having 200 stores in the Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Belgium. Primark has been known to release cheaper versions of expensive clothing after a few months and sometimes even years. But Primark is slowly catching up. With its spring/ summer collection being fairly up to date, Primark is giving a lot of the other high street fashion stores a run for their money. Watch out for Primark this year.... They're on the move!

Old shoes... New style...

I have had these shoes for so many years now... I just put them at the back of my wardrobe and left them there. Then one day I thought... hmmmm.... I'm sure I can work with this! I'm sure! So, I grabbed them out from the deep dark corner and tried them on with some tights and BANG! There before me... lay a new pair of shoes... they had transformed themselves from old and tacky, to knew and lovable. Here are a few shots of what they look like...

ANTM Cycle 15

So I watched the most recent episode of America's next top model... I must say I was not very impressed. Most of the girls in this cycle are look-a-likes of other models that are already established. However, Tyra has made an error because, the industry doesn't need more of the same face. The prize for cycle 15 is a two page spread in Italian Vogue. Other cycles haven't been afforded this privilege and this year, the game has been cranked up a notch or 20. However, if Tyra wants to make a top model worthy of not only gracing Vogue with a one off two page spread but having a consistent career, she will need to dig a little deeper.

These models are conventional... She pushed the boat out a little and chose a super skinny model who was 6''2 which in the fashion world is a big push... But it is very easy to be deceived by Tyra's decision to choose this "unconventional" model to be apart of the first 20. What she has actually done is just make it very difficult for the average girl to see herself as beautiful or good enough. Some of these models should be in the Guinness book of world records for being the skinniest person on the planet. She has taken it to another extreme and actually reinforced the idea that if you are not skinny you will never make it, and even when "different" is required, it basically mean.s a different type of skinny

Tyra claims to be a person who wants average girls to love themselves and know that we are all beautiful and we should look after ourselves and not starve to look good and take care of our bodies etc.
But cycle 8 was criticised for having the most number of heavy smokers. Is this what she wants young girls to embrace? I don't know... It seems Tyra is more concerned about looking like she is trying to establish a group of young role models but the execution is not matching her glorious words.
I spoke to someone that actually appeared on her show for an interview twice and revealed that Tyra's shows may promote one thing but it actually implements another... I have loved the show since the first show and I was an adamant fan until cycle 9. I loved the show but as I got older, I realised that the show actually disqualified many girls.

Maybe I should apply to Britain's next top model... just to see their reply. lol

I will continue watching this cycle... I have resumed back to one of my all time favourite shows and I don't seem to be impressed... maybe as the show goes on, I will see that Tyra has actually changed her tune. For me, the show has started off badly, but... there may be hope.
